Ottaviani has been elected Partner.   John is an outstanding attorney and is recognized as an expert in his field of law, intellectual property and commercial licensing matters.” said David M. Gilden, Managing Partner.

John E. OttavianiChair of our Intellectual Property & Technology Group, concentrates his practice in protecting and enforcing trademarks and copyrights, and in preparing and negotiating intellectual property licensing agreements. He regularly advises clients on trademark, copyright, domain name, and trade secret issues that arise in the physical world and on the Internet. He also works on the intellectual property and technology aspects of business financing, and of acquisition and sale transactions.  John has extensive experience in preparing and negotiating agreements for technology companies and for companies using technology in all industries. John received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law.  He is an active member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, where he serves on the Business Organizations Committee, the American Bar Association, where he serves on the Cyberspace Law and Museum and Art Law Committees, and the International Trademark Association, where he serves on the Publications Committee.  He has also served on the Board of Directors of Adoption Rhode Island since 1996.  John is resident in our Providence office.
