    Cale concentrates his practice in complex civil litigation in the Rhode Island and Massachusetts state and federal courts. He represents businesses and individuals in a wide variety of disputes, including real estate, construction disputes and environmental litigation. He also has extensive experience in the fields of securities litigation, internal investigations and class action defense. Cale has been involved in employee covenant not to compete matters and the much publicized “market timing” and “stock options misdating” scandals.

    Prior to joining Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP, Cale was a litigator at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP for nine years.

    Representative Transactions

    • Defended former CEO of a Massachusetts-based biotech company in a civil enforcement action brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission alleging violations of the federal securities laws and in related shareholder suits.

    • Defended major national insurers and financial institutions in putative class actions.

    • Defended independent directors of a mutual fund complex that saw as much as 70% overnight decline in the net asset value of certain bond funds.

    • Represented Reas Estate Investment Trust in major contract dispute that resulted in multi-state litigation.

    • Represented maker of promissory note in major real estate development.
