Ms. Baran focuses her practice in the areas of commercial real estate and commercial lending. She advises real estate owners and developers with regard to acquisitions, sales and leasing, title, land use, subdivision and zoning, condominium planning, and environmental issues. In her commercial lending practice, Ms. Baran counsels financial institutions in connection with real estate and construction financing, non-profit lending, letter of credit financing, and asset-based credit facilities. She also represents the interests of financial institutions in the restructuring and modification of nonperforming commercial loans and in various credit workout matters, bankruptcy and receivership proceedings. In addition, Ms. Baran chairs the firm’s women’s initiative, Women AdVocates for Enterprise (WAVE). She was named a “Rising Star” in the real estate section of the 2008 and 2009 Rhode Island Super Lawyers and, in 2009, was named a Providence Business News Woman to Watch.
In 2010, Ms. Baran received the Aida Sawyer Award from the RI Women’s Bar Association. In 2009, she was a recipient of the YWCA Women of Achievement Award. Ms. Baran was honored as one of “40 Magical Women We Admire” at the Big Sisters of Rhode Island Abracadabra Ball and received the Unsung Hero Award in 2008 from West Elmwood Development Corporation. Previously, she received the 40 Under Forty award from Providence Business News.
