Moratorium on Certain Foreclosures in Massachusetts
By Charles A. Lovell, Esq.
and Patricia Antonelli, Esq.
Governor Deval Patrick has initiated a
moratorium on some foreclosures in Massachusetts.
He has ordered state banking regulators to seek delays in foreclosure of
up to two months for homeowners who have filed complaints with the
Division of Banks. While this does not appear mandatory, it is unlikely
that state regulators would have their requests for delays denied by
lenders.
