The Admiralty and Maritime Group counsels clients throughout the United States and the world in all aspects of admiralty and maritime law. Our attorneys are well versed in the unique practices and procedures of admiralty and maritime law, focusing on two primary areas: commerce and trade, and litigation and dispute resolution.

We assist and advise our clients on marine and marine-related commercial transactions involving the “brown water” and offshore trades. The Group regularly represents vessel owners and operators, charterers, cargo interests, construction and dredging firms, freight forwarders, inland carriers, lenders, marina operators, marine surveyors, stevedores, and terminal operators in the areas of acquisitions and sales, affreightment, brokerage, charter parties, cargo, dredging, documentation and marine registration, energy, environmental regulation, finance and foreclosure, fisheries, management and crewing, marine construction, maritime service agreements, towage, transportation (ocean, air, and inland marine), trade-related agreements, and vessel construction.

In addition to the Group’s commercial practice, we provide representation in the areas of in personam and in rem admiralty practice and arbitration. We have extensive experience handling traditional maritime claims, including allision and collision, arrest and attachment, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, cargo, casualty and insurance defense, fisheries, foreclosure, maritime liens, license suspension and revocation proceedings, pollution, possesory actions, product liability, salvage, seaman’s claims, subrogation, and surety claims.
