Mr. Ryan is an experienced trial lawyer, successfully representing clients in both state and federal court. In particular, Mr. Ryan provides counsel on white collar crime and fraud issues, complex commercial litigation, corporate compliance and governmental investigations. He also represents students involved in school disciplinary proceedings.

Mr. Ryan is admitted to practice in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York and before the U. S. District Courts and U.S. Courts of Appeal in each jurisdiction. He is a member of the Criminal Justice Section of the American Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is also active in local professional organizations including the Superior Court Criminal Bench and Bar Committee and the Rhode Island Trial Lawyers Association.

Mr. Ryan was formerly an Assistant District Attorney in the Office of the Manhattan District Attorney where he served as Senior Trial Counsel and Bureau Chief in the Trial Division. In Rhode Island, he was appointed as Chief of the Criminal Division in the Department of the Attorney General, where for more than nine years he was responsible for the prosecution of all felony cases brought in the state. In this position, Mr. Ryan personally prosecuted many cases of fraudulent transactions involving misuse of government funds and corrupt practices including the collapse of the Jefferson Loan and Investment Bank.

Mr. Ryan is a former member of the Governor’s Economic Crime Commission and the Teitz Commission on the Future of the Courts. He has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Roger Williams University School of Law where he taught Advanced Trial Advocacy.
