Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013. In honor of this milestone, we created the PS&H 25/25 initiative as a way to say thank you to the many members of our community who have supported us through the years. Each month during 2013 we identified at least one nonprofit community-based organization to which we will donate 25 items.
In December, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated 25 gifts to Foster Forward as part of the DCYF Holiday Gifts for Teens Campaign to provide joy to teens in foster care this holiday season. “There are nearly 2,000 children and youth living in foster care in Rhode Island” said Lisa Guillette, Foster Forward’s Executive Director. “We are thrilled that PS&H has included teens in DCYF care for their 25/25 initiative.” Foster Forward’s mission is to empower lives impacted by foster care and the organization is funded in part by the Department of Children Youth and Families to coordinate the annual Holiday Gifts Campaign..
“Organizations such as Foster Forward are vital to the well-being of our communities. During this season, we are especially grateful to be able to support their efforts,” said Managing Partner David Gilden.

In December, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated 25 gifts to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Bedford/Wareham to help bring joy to children in need this holiday season. The Boys & Girls Club is dedicated to providing a stimulating and wholesome environment which promotes social, educational, character and physical development for children and young adults, ages 7 - 18 years.
“We are honored to support the Boys & Girls Club and its mission of assisting youth from all socio-economic backgrounds to develop the positive qualities required to become responsible citizens and leaders,” said Managing Partner David Gilden.

In November, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated 25 jeans, shirts and sweaters to Veterans Inc. Veterans Inc. is New England’s leading provider of support services to veterans and their families. The organization’s single-minded mission is to be there for our veterans in their time of need. Since 1991, Veterans Inc. has helped more than 55,000 veterans in need and today operates offices and programs in all six New England states. Support services include temporary and emergency housing, counseling, employment services, job training, family programs, benefits counseling/advocacy, transportation, temporary financial assistance, health & Wellness, food services, and veterans’ childcare services.
“It is an honor to contribute to these men and women, many of whom put their lives on the line to preserve the freedom that we often take for granted” said Managing Partner David Gilden.
Support from firms such as Partridge Snow & Hahn impacts not only the staff, but the veterans we have the privilege of working with, explained Denis Leary, the executive director for Veterans Inc.
“It means more than a lot of people realize,” Leary said. “Our veterans see this support as affirmation that they are not alone in their struggles, that it is not just our staff who is helping them, but that the community truly cares about them. The positive impact is immeasurable.”

In November, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated 2,500 pounds of food to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. “It is humbling to consider the number of people in our community who suffer from hunger. The Food Bank does an excellent job of maximizing donations to their fullest and serving the most people possible,” said Managing Partner David Gilden.
The Rhode Island Community Food Bank provides food to people in need and promotes long-term solutions to the problem of hunger. In partnership with member agencies, as well as government and community leaders, the Food Bank works to ensure that no one in Rhode Island goes hungry. They envision a day when everyone in Rhode Island has access to nutritious food through an efficient and sustainable acquisition and distribution network.

In October, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated 25 sets of bed linens to Amos House, a vital social service agency located in Providence. “We are very pleased to contribute to the supportive housing program at Amos House, one of many important services provided by this community-based organization,” said Managing Partner David Gilden.
Amos House, founded in 1976, consists of a campus of 14 buildings including a restaurant, permanent supportive housing and a mother-child reunification center. Its growth includes a 90-Day Recovery- Based Program, ten buildings dedicated to supportive housing, a Mother-Child Reunification Program, culinary and carpentry training program, a literacy center and social enterprise businesses that employ men and women and generate income. Amos House has moved from a grass-roots soup kitchen to a comprehensive social service agency with a staff of over 50 employees, more than half of whom are former residents.

In September, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated 25 teddy bears to the Pediatrics Unit at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. “We are very pleased to be able to commemorate our milestone anniversary by making this donation and helping to bring smiles to some of the Hospital’s youngest patients.” said Managing Partner David Gilden.

Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island is a 294-bed teaching center affiliated with The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. In August, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated 25 backpacks filled with school supplies to the annual Back to School Celebration event. “We are very pleased to be able to commemorate our milestone anniversary by helping less fortunate school children prepare for the upcoming school year,” said Managing Partner David Gilden. “We also want to thank our friends at United Way of Rhode Island for connecting us to Back to School Celebration and for the outstanding work United Way does in our community.” Back to School Celebration is a nonprofit organization created 14 years ago to help school children and their families “kick off” the new school year in a festive, fun-filled and informative atmosphere. It has grown from one site at which it distributed school supplies to 600 children to serving more than 14,000 children at eleven sites around the state.

In July, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated 25 tickets to Special Olympics Rhode Island to attend a Pawtucket Red Sox game this season. “We are very pleased to be able to commemorate our milestone anniversary by giving some of our state’s Special Olympians an opportunity to enjoy a PawSox game,” said Managing Partner David Gilden. The Special Olympics Rhode Island program is one of the world’s most dynamic, providing over 1,600 year-round sports training and athletic competitions for more than 2,800 athletes and hosting over 40 local, regional, and statewide tournaments and competitions each year in 25 official and demonstration sports.

In June, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP sponsored a lighthouse tour of Narragansett Bay for 25 students and chaperones from Bishop McVinney Catholic Elementary School. “The Firm is honored to be able to commemorate our milestone anniversary by providing these students a hands-on opportunity to learn more about Rhode Island’s unique qualities,” said Eugene G. Bernardo II, a partner at the firm.
With support from the Diocese of Providence, Bishop McVinney Catholic Elementary School was founded in 1973 as a result of enthusiastic collaboration of principals, faculty and parents who succeeded admirably in saving Catholic education for the children of South Providence and the surrounding urban area. The School continues to serve the Catholic educational needs of a diverse urban population with a proud, inspirational and somewhat miraculous history.

In June, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated $1,250 to the Boy Scouts of America Narragansett Council to support its summer camp programs. The Firm is honored to be able to commemorate our milestone anniversary by making this donation.
The Boy Scouts of America Narragansett Council is part of a worldwide Scouting movement with over 15 million members in one hundred countries. It serves over 13,000 registered youth members and Learning for Life participants in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts and supports in excess of 4,200 registered adult volunteers. The Narragansett Council operates two Scout Shops/Service Centers (one in the Summit Square Plaza on Route 2 in Warwick, RI and one in the Swansea Mall in Swansea, MA) and owns and operates eight great camps: Camp Aquapaug, Buck Hill Scout Reservation, Camp Buxton, Cub World at Buck Hill, Cachalot Scout Reservation, Champlin Scout Reservation, Sandsland, and Camp Yawgoog.

In May, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated $1,250 to INSIGHT to help support the organization’s summer youth programs. Specifically, this donation will enable several INSIGHT clients to participate in sailing lessons at the Community Boating Center in Providence. In April, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated 25 tickets to the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket to take a docent-led tour of the RISD Museum of Art. “We are very pleased to be able to commemorate our milestone anniversary by offering these young people the opportunity to explore the RISD Museum,” said Managing Partner David Gilden.
The RISD Museum of Art is Rhode Island’s leading museum of fine and decorative art, housing a collection of 86,000 objects of international significance. It is southeastern New England’s only comprehensive art museum and is accredited by the American Association of Museums. The RISD Museum strives to be a vital cultural resource by educating and inspiring a wide variety of audiences. The Museum maintains an active program of exhibitions, lectures, tours, workshops and publications dedicated to the interpretation of art and design from diverse cultures ranging from ancient times to the present.
Founded in 1900, today the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket has 4,000 members. Its mission is to inspire and enable the young people of Pawtucket and surrounding communities, especially those with greatest need, to realize their full potential as healthy, productive, responsible and caring citizens.

In March, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated 25 tickets to Providence ¡CityArts! for Youth (¡CityArts!) students to attend The Joffrey Ballet performance which culminated FirstWorks’ month-long celebration of the centenary debut of “Rite of Spring”. The Firm is honored to be able to commemorate our milestone anniversary by supporting both organizations in this way. Through the efforts of FirstWorks, the students from ¡CityArts! had the opportunity to attend a live performance by a world-renowned dance company.
FirstWorks is a non-profit arts organization that presents world-class performing arts programs that build the cultural, educational, and economic vitality of our community. Since 2004, FirstWorks has offered Rhode Islanders access to some of the most exciting artists of our time including Yo-Yo Ma, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Sweet Honey In The Rock, Laurie Anderson and master artists of Pakistan through Caravanserai project (2011-12). Beginning with an unprecedented collaboration with Providence’s Department of Art, Culture + Tourism, FirstWorks has grown into a multidimensional arts organization recognized with 14 National Endowment for the Arts grants, produced 22 groundbreaking arts festivals, attracted more than 140,000 participants and engaged more than 100 nonprofit community organizations and schools.
¡CityArts! is a community arts organization with a mission to provide free professional arts education to Providence youth between ages 8-14. ¡CityArts! now serves over 1200 youth in afterschool and summer arts programs citywide, offering meaningful learning experiences in visual art and design, performing arts, and creative writing. Their work is inspired by the creative process of art-making and the exploration of ideas and concepts that shape our communities and everyday lives.

Also in March, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated $250 to the Westborough Education Foundation (WEF) to help support the Foundation’s tireless efforts to improve the quality of education in the community. The Firm is honored to be able to commemorate our milestone anniversary by making this donation.
The Westborough Education Foundation is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial support for projects and programs that expand educational opportunities, foster and stimulate creativity, and enhance the excellence of academic experiences for Westborough students. In addition, its purpose is to establish a permanent fund to support grant awards for innovative initiatives that are above and beyond the base curriculum requirements and are outside the scope of the Westborough School Department's budget.

The Dartmouth Education Foundation was founded in 2007 by a group of parents and citizens in Dartmouth concerned with the quality of education in the town’s public schools. The DEF has been formed to ensure enhanced and enriched education opportunities for students in the Town of Dartmouth.

In February, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP donated 25 tickets to the New Bedford Symphony Youth Orchestra to attend the Rhode Island Philharmonic Rush Hour Concert. “We are very pleased to be able to commemorate our milestone anniversary by making this donation. It was a pleasure to see how much the students enjoyed attending the concert,” said Managing Partner David Gilden.
The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School is committed to engaging people of Southern New England as lifelong music listeners, teachers, learners, creators and performers. Under the artistic leadership of Music Director Larry Rachleff and Resident Conductor Francisco Noya, the RI Philharmonic Orchestra comprises 73 professional musicians, and the Philharmonic Music School is currently the only comprehensive, non-profit community music school in Rhode Island.
Since 2008, the New Bedford Symphony Youth Orchestras (NBSYO) have been bringing together talented young musicians from across the Southeastern Massachusetts region to participate in an educational and artistic experience in a full orchestra setting. Membership in the NBSYO is open to students of grade school age through age 21. The NBSYO organization is made up of four orchestras, with students placed into the appropriate ensemble by audition. All NBSYO musicians must be members in good standing in their school instrumental music programs.

In January, we donated 25 winter coats to Children’s Friend, a nonprofit organization in Providence. Founded in 1834, Children’s Friend is a leading provider of child welfare, family support, mental health, and youth development services. For more than a decade, PS&H has enjoyed a close relationship with Children’s Friend. This year, PS&H Firm partner, Kim McCarthy, is chair of the CFS board. We are honored to make this donation to such a fine organization that serves an important segment of our community.
